WHAT IT’S FOR

CT (Computed Axial Tomography) is a diagnostic test that uses i
X-rays and is usually performed after radiographs or ultrasound scans, or as an in-depth study following a specialist visit.

PREPARATION

Preparation is only required if a CT scan with a contrast method is required
(MDC), in this case the patient will have to go to the facility with the creatinine test carried out in the last 30 days and fasting for at least 6 hours.
RISKS
The risk of developing cancer from radiation exposure is generally low and depends on at least three factors:

  • dose of radiation
  • age of exposure
  • sex of the subject

The overall risk of cancer increases with the dose per test and the frequency of tests you undergo.
